The bible study group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month in the Visitor’s Centre. The bible passages are publicized in advance to give people an opportunity to read and reflect on them before we meet.
As Jacob wrestled with God so we wrestle with the scriptures as we endeavor to gain a deeper appreciation of the bible and its relevance to our daily living. I, personally, am impressed by the knowledge of those I have come to lead! I have learnt a lot myself – so it is fair to say that we are learning together. We also bring our personal experience to the discussion, ask the difficult questions and explore how good, solid biblical truths apply to our world today. What we hope to provide is a safe arena for open and honest discussion. Where we can ask questions and encourage theological reflection.
We previously studied “Little Letters” – New Testament letters of 3 chapters or less. Currently we are using the Bible Society’s Lyfe study material and after Lent we plan to take a much closer look at the Beatitudes in Matthew’s gospel.
We meet for an hour and a half – but the time moves quickly as discussion is animated and there is plenty of interaction – which I think is very important.
If you would like to come along you are very welcome – even if you can’t commit to come every fortnight.
