The bible study group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month in the Emmanuel Room. The bible passages are publicised in advance to give people an opportunity to read and reflect on them before we meet.
We endeavour to gain a deeper appreciation of the bible and its relevance to our daily living. We seek to provide is a safe arena for open and honest discussion where we can ask questions and encourage theological reflection. We also bring our personal experience to the discussion and explore how good, solid biblical truths apply to our world today.
Previously we have studied: “Little Letters” (New Testament letters of 3 chapters or less); the Bible Society’s Lyfe study; the Beatitudes from Matthew’s gospel; a selection of John Wesley sermons relating to our Methodist identity.
This season we began with ‘women in the bible’ (including Ruth, Rahab, Deborah, the woman at the well, Mary the mother of Jesus) which proved so popular – the group (including the men!) have asked for more, so it will be included on the programme from September.
Currently, from April – July 2018 we are exploring the ‘I Am’ sayings of Jesus.
We meet for an hour and a half – but the time moves quickly as discussion is animated and there is plenty of interaction. If you would like to come along you are very welcome – even if you can’t commit to come every fortnight.
