Bible Study

The bible study group meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday’s of the month in the Emmanuel Room between 7pm – 8.30 pm. The bible passages are publicised in advance to give people an opportunity to read and reflect on them before we meet.

We endeavour to gain a deeper appreciation of the bible and its relevance to our daily living. We seek to provide a safe arena for open and honest discussion where we can ask questions and encourage theological reflection. We also bring our personal experience to the conversation and explore how good, solid biblical truths inform our world today.

Previously we have studied: “Little Letters” (New Testament letters of 3 chapters or less); the Bible Society’s Lyfe study; the Beatitudes from Matthew’s gospel; and explored our Methodist identity through a selection of John Wesley sermons.

Recently we focussed on ‘women in the bible’ (including Ruth, Rahab, Deborah, the woman at the well, Mary the mother of Jesus) which proved so popular – the group (including the men!) have asked for more, so it has been included on the current programme.

Our current programme began in September 2018 with studies of each of the seven letters in Revelation, and includes more ‘women in the bible’, a Lent course and Bible Month.

If you would like to come along you are very welcome – even if you can’t commit to every fortnight. If you need more information please contact Deacon Kina Saunders
