Here at Methodist Central Hall Westminster we have a strong bond with the United Nations.
It was in 1946 when our church congregation moved out to make way for leaders from over 50 nations to come together for the inaugural meeting of the UN General Assembly. UN Secretary Generals from the first, Trygve Lie to the current, Ban Ki-Moon have graced our Great Hall and our church continues to uphold the work of the UN in what is a very troubled world.
Delegates included Clement Attlee, British Prime Minister and Mrs Eleanor Roosevelt.
Revd Dr Martyn Atkins, Superintendent Minister of Methodist Central Hall said,
At @mchw we are proud of our assoc. with the @UN We continue to uphold it in prayer as it faces deep challenges in a troubled world #UN71
