Good Friday at Methodist Central Hall

Methodist Central Hall Westminster held a number of services on Good Friday, 30th March 2018.

At 10.15am Revd. Dr Jongikaya Zihle, Chair of the London District of the Methodist Church led our devotions at the Cross.  At 11am Revd Tony Miles, Acting Superintendent Minister led the Dedication of the Homeless Jesus Sculpture in the presence of the Dean of Westminster, Revd. Dr Jongikaya Zihle and other special guests.

At 12 noon the church gathered with other churches in Westminster, including Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral and the Passage Charity for our annual ‘Good Friday Procession of Witness’.  Despite the rain, several hundred people gathered outside Methodist Central Hall, to sing hymns, listen to readings and pray.  The procession moved on to Westminster Cathedral where Cardinal Nichols spoke on the unjust nature of Jesus’ trial.

Rachel Lampard, past Vice-President of the Methodist Church spoke in Westminster Abbey of the Homeless Jesus saying, ‘The cross that Jesus carries is a heavy one. It is the burden borne by the rejected, the poor, the marginalised, and the exploited in every age.’

Photos from Good Friday are available here and video of the events will be posted shortly.
