Jazz Carols at Methodist Central Hall Westminster

Jazz Carols at Methodist Central Hall Westminster

On Sunday, 16th December 2018 Methodist Central Hall hosted a Jazz Carols service in the Great Hall.

This special service was hosted by broadcaster Diane Louise Jordan and took a rather different take on many of our most familiar carols.  The music was arranged by saxophonist Dan Forshaw who leads the Jazz Vespers ministry at Methodist Central Hall.  The featured soloists were leading UK jazz singer Juliet Kelly and German saxophonist Birgitta Flick.

Revd Dr Martyn Atkins who gave a short reflection at the service said,  ‘“Jazz Carols was a fantastic evening, gathering several hundred people – many unused to ‘normal church’ – to sing, listen, reflect and celebrate with the brilliant Dan Forshaw Sextet. Roll on next year!”

Jazz Vespers is a bi-monthly service held at Methodist Central Hall which uses jazz music and hymns arranged in a jazz style to reach those who don’t usually attend church services.   The next Jazz Vespers will be on Sunday, 24th February 2019 at 6pm.
